Today we're going to talk about Quentin Tarantino's first feature film which appeared in theatres in 1992. A film noir, with dialogue and with an agonizing eight-closet...

This is a film that moved me! In particular its dark camerawork with powerful dialogues. Before talking about the film's background, I'll tell you about the difficulties the film experienced when it was released.

In 1992, at the Cannes Film Festival, a small American independent film almost steals the show from the Palme d'Or winner The Best Intentions, by Bille August. During this fortnight, the critics swore by a whodunit with an incomprehensible title, presented in a special screening. The rumour spread among festival-goers: the film is violent, original in its narrative structure and perfectly mastered. Reservoir Dogs wins over its first spectators; Tarantino is no longer an illustrious man. The film gets a second wind after the release of Pulp Fiction. It is currently on the most popular paid streaming platforms. It allows to exist in time.

The story begins in a bar, with eight casual men planning a jewellery heist. Later, when one of them, White, leads Orange, a seriously wounded colleague whom he is trying to relieve, into the warehouse where the loot was to be shared, we understand that it went very badly. They are joined by Pink, another survivor. Questions arise: who tipped off the cops, set off the alarm? Why was Blonde shooting everywhere? Who betrayed them?

And it is at this point that the story will begin and the objective will be to understand how it came to this. What are the ins and outs.

The story is technical to tell, you have to have seen this film.

Below is an extract from the film between music and suffering...
