Pink Floyd is a British progressive rock band formed in 1964 in London. Initially led by Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd enjoyed modest success in the mid-1960s. However, Barrett's increasingly unstable behaviour... led the other members to replace him with David Gilmour. Bassist Roger Waters gradually became the band's leader. Pink Floyd gain worldwide fame with The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), one of the three best-selling albums of all time.

Pink Floyd built The Wall, a now legendary album released in 1979, which reached number 87 in Rolling Stone magazine's Top 500 albums of all time.

The concept for the album began to emerge during a live performance, specifically during the acoustic parts. Roger Waters realised that the audience was not listening to him. His audience was becoming increasingly annoyed with him. The solution? Erect a wall and perform half the concert out of sight. This is how the album is built, with the three parts of 'another brick in the wall'.

I can invite you to listen to the album if you haven't already done so.

At the same time the album took a political tour 10 years later. We are in Berlin, a few months after the fall of the Wall, a few weeks before German unification.

On this 21st of July 1990, on the Potsdamer Platz, Roger Waters gives a concert. He was surrounded by several musicians, the Scorpions, Bryan Adams, Cindy Lauper, Sinead O'Connor, Marianne Faithfull and Van Morisson. They gathered on the former No Man's Land to sing songs from the Pink Floyd album The Wall.

Since then, the album has been associated with the fall of the Wall.

The concept album The Wall was born and Roger Waters decided to make it evolve with time and political events.

I wanted this wall," he says, "to be more of a global vision, to talk about these walls that make us afraid of each other and that separate us rather than unite us.
